Oak Associates Funds, ltd. provides growth equity investment advising to clients from its headquarters in Akron, Ohio. A company whose philosophy focuses on investing with long-term time horizons, Oak Associates Funds provides seven growth fund portfolios for client investment. Outside its services to clients, the company partners with the nonprofit facility Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis.
The Oak Clinic offers treatment, support, and other services to individuals diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). In addition, patients with MS, as well as their friends and family, may attend classes designed to help them stay active and handle the emotional stress and frustration associated with the disease.
Held on all weekdays except Thursdays, the clinic’s exercise classes include water aerobics, yoga, and “land” exercises. Land exercises utilize body motions to increase flexibility, range of motion, and muscle circulation while minimizing joint stress. Classes for water aerobics ask that participants provide their own swimwear. Yoga, the only class held during the afternoon and evening hours, focuses on postures that ease muscle tensions.
The Oak Clinic also holds group sessions on managing and preventing depression two Fridays each month. Individuals with MS may join at any time at no cost. The clinic also recently began efforts to expand its counseling services to include general mood and stress management. Topics covered during the classes vary from session to session and cover a wide variety of subject matter. Attendees of the group may decide to attend one or both monthly sessions.
For more information on classes, visit the class description page on the clinic’s website at oakclinic.com/classes.htm.
